Ten kinds of help, drawn from the real programs Senior Services runs today: rides, meals, senior centers, in-home care, a companion, Medicare counseling, caregiver support, wellness classes, the ombudsman, and veteran-specific services.

  • Rides (I-RIDE)

    I-RIDE is Senior Services' own door-to-door transportation program for anyone 60 and older in the region, and the way most people first reach one of the other services on this page.

  • Meals

    Senior Services delivers meals to seniors who cannot cook or shop for themselves, the program most people know as Meals on Wheels, and helps eligible seniors stretch their own grocery budget with fresh produce.

  • Senior Centers

    Senior centers give people a reason to leave the house: games, meals, classes, shopping trips, field trips, and holiday celebrations, plus Nutrition Counseling with a registered dietitian.

  • In-Home Care

    Several programs bring help directly into a senior's home, from short-term care after an illness to a fan or air conditioner in the heat of summer.

  • Companion Program

    The Senior Companion Program pairs a homebound older adult with an active senior volunteer for regular visits, conversation, and the occasional trip out.

  • Medicare Counseling

    VICAP-certified counselors help seniors sort through Medicare options and apply for the benefits they are entitled to, at no cost.

  • Caregiver Support

    Caring for an aging or chronically ill loved one can be one of the most important things a person does, and one of the hardest. Senior Services connects family caregivers to relief.

  • Wellness Classes

    Free, evidence-based classes rotate through community sites across the region: fall prevention, chronic condition management, and getting comfortable with a smartphone or a tablet.

  • Ombudsman and Elder Safety

    The Senior Advocate Ombudsman speaks up for residents of nursing homes and assisted living, and Senior Services also runs the region's front line against elder abuse and scams targeting older adults.

  • Veteran Services

    Two programs are built specifically for veterans: free rides to VA clinics, and a way for eligible veterans to direct their own in-home care.
